Pickle! or the do-swan #[nn]

Feb 2000 · The Shiver Bones Group · [none]
“Oh Tragedy!”

In "Oh Tragedy!", a lonely anthropomorphic pickle named Pickle! finds himself in a series of escalating misfortunes after accidentally severing his friend Peetshow’s arm—only to be pursued by a demon, harassed by birds, outwitted by the Devil, and driven into a tree by the Ground itself. When a friend finally rescues him, his fear and paranoia make him lash out, convinced she’s just another trick from the Devil. Written and illustrated by Matthew Kirscht in a surreal, hand-drawn style, this 2000 oddity from The Shiver Bones Group blends absurdity and dread with a distinctly personal touch, its cover by Kirscht capturing the story’s chaotic, melancholic tone.
