Phoenix #1

Sep 2024 · Marvel · 4.99 USD

Phoenix #1 (2024) launches with a gripping fusion of cosmic wonder and personal stakes, as Adani recounts her origins tied to the Phoenix Force amid a desperate ceremony on her dying world. When the Phoenix intervenes to save her planet’s sun, a black hole’s collapse in an Omega Core prison unleashes dangerous inmates—including Perrikus—setting off a chain reaction that culminates in tragedy on Adani’s homeworld. Written by Stephanie Phillips and illustrated by Alessandro Miracolo, with colors by David Curiel and letters by VC's Cory Petit, the issue’s haunting tone is matched by Yasmine Putri’s striking cover.

Adani narrates her life and her beginnings with the Phoenix. The Universal Church of Truth is holding a ceremony on Adani's planet. Their sun is dying, but Phoenix arrives and heals it. Elsewhere a black hole is destroying a Omega Core prison. Some of the prisoners are released from their cells, including Morg and Perrikus. Nova calls Jean for help. She is having a psychic date with Scott, who is back in Alaska. She intervenes, stabilizing the black hole. Unfortunately, she is unable to stop Perrikus from escaping the prison entirely. He lands on Adani's planet, and kills her father.
