Phoebe's town suffers a cold wave and an ice storm. Ambient magic also disappears. Phoebe and her friends trace the problem to Voltina. Rejected by goblins and unicorns alike, she is so depressed that she is eating all the electricity and absorbing all the magic. Since Max likes both magic and electricity they became friends, and Voltina joins the larger circle of kids and magical acquaintances. Magic and electricity return to normal levels.
