“The War of the Apocalyptics”

In "The War of the Apocalyptics," Jim McPherson's story unfolds with high stakes in the Faerie Garden, where Wilderwitch and his deviant son Kronokronos Akbar are sent on a mission that quickly spirals into chaos. As rival factions—including Vetala, Nihila, and the Ringleader—converge over the devil-slaying Trigreos Talisman, the ground itself splits open, unleashing Demon Land and thrusting Akbar into a desperate fight against the Thanatoid. With Verne Andrusiek handling art, inks, and lettering, and Ian Bateson’s cover capturing the turmoil, this issue delivers a layered, escalating clash of wills in a world where even the garden has secrets.

Tariqartha sends Wilderwitch and his deviant son Kronokronos Akbar to the Faerie Garden in hopes they will encounter and drive out the Apocalyptics, as well as any of their allies, who've nested there. Before they can do that, they're attacked by Vetala and her soldier, who are after the devil-slaying Trigreos Talisman. First Nihila then Ringleader also show up for the same reason. Once that's resolved the Witch and Akbar carry on. Demon Land erupts out of the ground. The Witch flees, forcing Akbar to fight the Thanatoid himself. Members of the Faerie Guild are seen watching their battle.
