Peter Wheat and his friends search for a missing beetle named Spot by the woods brook, where Sammy the snake assists them. The little people help gather flour wagons together using poles, and the large girl they encounter compares the experience to being Gulliver, eventually agreeing to transport them to Farmer Smith's house despite the effort involved. The story concludes with the girl reflecting on the adventure as akin to the tales of Gulliver's travels.
