Peter Wheat and his companion Beetle journey to the Land of the Sugar Bun to visit Sammy Sweet, who has invented a new cream puff featuring nuts, cherries, jelly, and whipped cream for the Queen's birthday. When Peter and Beetle attempt to see the new pastry, they are initially denied entry to the bakeries, but Sammy allows them in as a friend. A large cream puff escapes and causes chaos, growing massive and attracting hornets to the Pastry Palace, forcing Peter and Beetle to pursue it and prevent disaster.
