Peter Panda finds himself in a tight spot in this 1954 DC gem, as the cover by Rube Grossman depicts our wide-eyed little panda cub marching in chains, surrounded by a menacing army of anthropomorphic carrots — complete with spears and a scowling carrot commander brandishing a knife. "The Land of the Vegetables!" promises the kind of delightfully absurd adventure that made funny animal comics such a joy in the mid-1950s. A wonderfully imaginative ten-cent package that shows Grossman's knack for expressive characters and playful peril.
