This 1973 Archie Series gem captures Betty surrounded by heart-filled swooning as she strolls cheerfully through a machine shop packed with blue-suited male students — her reasoning spelled out in the cover's delightful speech bubbles: "Thirty boys and no girls!" Veronica looks on with skeptical amusement while Archie and the other guys tinker with engines and auto parts, blissfully unaware of Betty's cunning social strategy. Al Hartley's warm, expressive linework and Barry Grossman's bright colors make this twenty-cent issue a charming snapshot of Riverdale humor at its most lighthearted.
