“Insult to Injury!”

Archie Andrews arrives at Marty's Record Mart toting a portable tape recorder, while Veronica turns to tell him the plan — and a flustered store clerk looks on as Betty clutches a stack of records nearby. Samm Schwartz captures a perfectly cheerful slice of early-'60s teen life, with a record bin stocked with familiar album covers adding a fun background detail. At just a dime, Pep #149 delivers the kind of breezy, mischievous Riverdale humor that made this series a staple of the era.

Reggie locks Archie in his room so he can't go riding with Veronica. Archie tosses his keys to Jughead and tells him to take his jalopy to Pop's. Reggie sees the jalopy leaving and goes back to check. Archie then locks him in the room and goes to find Veronica. Meanwhile, Reggie climbs out the window and goes to the Chocklit Shoppe where he finds Archie's jalopy with the keys in it. He goes for a ride, leaving Archie to think someone has stolen his car. Archie goes to the police department to report it missing, but when he gives a description, the police wonder why he wants it back.
