This 1949 Marvel charmer from Al Jaffee delivers a delightfully absurd cover gag: a determined U.S. Mail carrier has literally gift-wrapped a lovesick young man — plastered head-to-toe with shipping labels reading "THIS SIDE UP," "HANDLE WITH CARE," and "FRAGILE" — and is presenting him at the front door to a thoroughly shocked Patsy Walker, exclaiming that he's "just another package" he intends to deliver. The comedic timing is pitch-perfect, and Jaffee's crisp, expressive linework brings every exasperated reaction to life. Teenage romance has rarely been this entertainingly complicated.
