“The Dude Ranch Romance!”

The cover of this 1963 Marvel charmer says it all: Patsy, decked out in full cowgirl gear, proudly asks Hedy how she likes the new outfit — only to get the delightfully catty reply that it would look better on the cow. Al Hartley's clean, expressive linework captures the whole foursome perfectly, with Hedy in her blue-and-orange ranch ensemble, two young men (Buzz and Ron, per the cover's own teaser) looking on near a stable backdrop. The issue promises "fun and confusion" when Patsy and Hedy set their sights on a couple of cowboys in "Her Dude Ranch Romance!" — lighthearted teen comedy at its most breezy and fun.
