Patsy and Hedy #65

Two best friends out on the town take center stage in this 1959 Marvel charmer, with Patsy and Hedy seated at a nightclub table alongside their dates while a live combo — trumpet, bass, and piano — swings away in the background. The girls react in hilariously opposite ways to the music, speech bubbles flying as Hedy gushes "I dig this beat the most!" while Patsy tartly admits she's heard nothing but her date's voice all evening. Al Hartley's clean, expressive linework perfectly captures the breezy wit that made this series such a delight, and at a dime a copy it was an easy yes for any teen comics fan in '59.
