Pat Sullivan's Felix the Cat #48
In "Public Elations," Otto Messmer delivers a delightfully absurd slice of early 1950s cartoon chaos as Inky the cat climbs an apple tree with a mischievous plan—only to watch in bewildered silence as Pokey Pig swoops in and devours the apple mid-fall. With every line drawn by Messmer himself, the issue captures the pure, unscripted slapstick of classic animation, where a simple apple becomes a moment of silent, surreal comedy. The cover, also by Messmer, perfectly encapsulates the scene’s playful absurdity.
