When Mr. Fred Forester decides to bond with his son Algernon by joining him and his friends for a day of play, the well-meaning father discovers that his glory days as an athlete are firmly behind him. As Algernon watches proudly, his old man attempts baseball, roller-skating, and a wagon ride down a steep hill—each misadventure more chaotic than the last. By day's end, Mr. Forester learns a valuable lesson about the gap between athletic memory and present-day reality.
Ozzie Turner tries to press a tie for his date using a faulty iron, and when a simple fix doesn't work, he decides to troubleshoot the electrical system himself—armed with nothing but confidence and a book he once read on the subject. With his pal Dip Prattle reluctant but enlisted to help test the power, Ozzie's DIY electrical repairs quickly spiral from one house into a town-wide catastrophe that leaves all of Winkleville in the dark. By the time the power's restored, Ozzie discovers the real reason his iron never worked in the first place.
When Ted rushes off to meet his date with Mabel, Clarence can't resist needling him about his choice of companion—a girl who, according to Clarence's joke, has a knack for predicting the future in the most painful way possible: by emptying a fellow's wallet. It's a quick bit of teen humor that plays on the classic setup of a date that might cost more than expected.
