“Above the Fruited Plain...”

In "Above the Fruited Plain...", Orion charges into Darkseid’s stronghold in Nebraska, only to find the tyrant and Desaad gone—just as the Newsboy Legion faces off against Kanto, Darkseid’s deadly assassin. With the people of New Genesis now under the Source’s command, they journey to Apokolips, where Orion and Darkseid prepare for a final, weaponless duel. Written and illustrated by Walter Simonson, with cover art by Simonson, this 2000 issue delivers high-stakes tension and emotional weight, all rendered in bold, expressive lines and rich color by Sherilyn Van Valkenburgh.
