The second volume of Sylvain Runberg and Serge Pellé's science-fiction series finds a tense group of armed figures in battered spacesuits bracing together in what appears to be a dark, cavernous space — weapons raised, expressions fierce, clearly caught in the middle of something dangerous. Pellé's cover art is richly detailed, with muted earth tones giving way to dramatic lighting that illuminates the squad against an ominous shadowy background threaded with dark, organic-looking tendrils. Ruptures promises exactly what its title suggests — a story of fracture and conflict set against a vivid alien backdrop, making this 2007 Dupuis release a compelling entry in the series.
