This 2008 Delcourt volume opens the second part of Le cycle de la terre, the earth-themed arc of Hub's atmospheric feudal-Japanese fantasy series. The cover presents a striking, minimalist composition — a small figure dressed in red and white clings near the top of a tall, weathered staff or pole, its shadow stretching dramatically across a near-white background. Colors by Stéphane Pelayo keep the palette spare and elegant, letting that vivid splash of red draw the eye immediately to the solitary figure perched in quiet tension.
