Fawcett's photo-cover series for Nyoka the Jungle Girl was always a treat, and issue #59 from September 1951 is a fine example — showing a poised, knife-in-hand Nyoka crouching alertly among rocky jungle outcroppings, her chimpanzee companion close at her side. The lush ferns and dramatic stone walls behind them set a mood of genuine tension, perfectly suited to the promised story, "The Vanishing Warriors." At just ten cents, this is adventure pulp energy captured in one compelling image.
