She discovers that an evil man wearing a mask has been training the vultures to kidnap members of the Lobus tribe, whom he forces to undergo ear-stretching rituals to impersonate Lobus boys, planning to use them to lead the tribe down a mountain to be slaughtered. Nyoka must fight off the vultures and stop the masked villain's sinister scheme.
Nyoka the Jungle Girl answers a desperate plea from villagers whose children are being snatched by giant vultures nesting atop the cursed Death Mountain—a peak that rose from the earth generations ago to destroy an evil tribe. Scaling the treacherous slopes that have claimed every climber before her, Nyoka discovers a summit filled with deadly wonders: corrosive hot springs, bizarre creatures, and dangers that test even her jungle prowess. As peril closes in from all sides, the famed jungle girl fights to uncover the mystery of the vultures and save the stolen children before Death Mountain claims her as well.
When Nyoka takes her nervous friend Lion-Hearted Leo out for a relaxing day away from his animal-training duties, every attempt to calm his frayed nerves backfires spectacularly—each new activity somehow manages to put him face-to-face with the very animals he's desperately trying to avoid. This humorous four-page story follows Leo's increasingly desperate quest for a single peaceful afternoon in "Vacation for a Day."
Nyoka battles a rhinopony to escape a boiling pit, then pursues a mystery on Death Mountain—where a strange man and a band of vultures stand between her and the kidnapped native children she's sworn to find. Racing through treacherous terrain, she's cornered by the vultures and their ruthless leader, leaving her captured and in grave danger as Part II concludes.
Kanvasback's culinary disasters take center stage in this lighthearted romp as the former restaurant cook—and current fighter—attempts to impress with a homemade breakfast spread. With Nyoka and Mal Arkey on hand to sample his questionable creations, Kanvasback's misadventures in the kitchen prove that his skill with his fists may be his only real talent.
Nyoka finds herself at the mercy of Lobu, the last surviving member of the cursed Lobus tribe, who's using trained vultures to kidnap local boys and transform them into warriors for his sinister plan to restore his tribe's former glory. Trapped on a mountain with captive children and forced to choose between her own survival and theirs, Nyoka must outthink a ruthless villain and his feathered army before Lobu can put his scheme into motion. It's a high-stakes jungle adventure where quick thinking and skill are the only weapons that matter.
