In one storyline, Brad Reid and Dick Torrence pilot a boat called the Bay Duck through treacherous waters to rescue a plasma delivery, battling a storm and capsizing before being saved by a mysterious bonfire on shore; a week later, Brad discovers the boat has been repaired and learns from postal supervisor Baxter that Nyoka saved them. In another concurrent adventure, Nyoka confronts a crocodile and becomes embroiled with jungle tribes, where she defeats a "lady prize fighter" called the White Princess of Black Castle and must navigate the schemes of kidnappers named Pierre and his associates who seek a $50,000 fortune while holding her captive in their tower hideout.
In a humorous sidebar, Trader Tom is dismayed to find his store looted, only to realize the thieves took everything just after he raised prices—making the loss even more frustrating. A beggar with a sore throat approaches Nyoka, asking for a quarter with exaggerated flair, adding to the story’s lighthearted tone.
In a humorous twist, the timid animal trainer Leo panics at the thought of entering the circus cage with wild animals, claiming he’s afraid of all creatures—only to find himself accidentally escaping across a tightrope, narrowly avoiding a bouncing panther. As he struggles to maintain his balance, Nyoka watches from below, marveling at his flailing escape, while the crowd erupts in applause, mistaking his panic for a daring act.
