It's 1957 in Milwaukee where Tim McClean works hard to peddle used cars in his hometown after returning home from his military service in the Korean War. After work, Tim spends some of his free time before dinner trying to pick up transmissions from Sputnik using his ham radio gear. A civil defense siren interrupts the early evening and Tim has to hurry his family into their basement fallout shelter as bombs fall from the sky.
