Few comics capture the sheer absurdity of Cold War-era action quite like this January 1990 Marvel gem. The cover by Ron Wagner and Bob McLeod delivers a genuinely wild scene: a grinning, smiley-face-robed figure brandishing an axe looms over three kids who are blissfully absorbed in reading comics — including a visible issue of Fantastic Four — while demanding to know if those things will "rot your minds." Rounding out the corner boxes are a stern military figure flanked by American and Soviet flags, plus a Spider-Man face inset, making this one of the more charmingly chaotic covers in the series.
