History

The issue arrived midway through the 25-issue run of Nomad Vol. 2 (1992–1994), a series that grew directly out of Fabian Nicieza's earlier 1990 Nomad miniseries; the miniseries performed well enough for Marvel to greenlight an ongoing, with Nicieza retained as the principal writer for all but one issue of the run. By issue #18, penciler Rick Mays had taken over the art duties from the series' earlier regular Pat Olliffe, with Greg Adams on inks, James Hoston on colors, and Chris Eliopoulos lettering — all operating under editor Glenn Herdling and editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco. The series was launched during the speculator boom and published under conditions where Marvel was actively expanding its line, meaning books like Nomad occupied a niche between event-adjacent Captain America continuity and genuinely independent street-level storytelling.
