From writer Devin Grayson and interior artist Mike Lilly, this September 2004 issue wraps up "Road to Nowhere" with a cover — penciled by Scott McDaniel and inked by Andy Owens — that sets a genuinely unsettling mood: a grinning, orange-costumed villain has her arms wrapped tight around a grimacing Nightwing, all framed by flickering candles and the teasing tagline "It's a Nice Day to Start Again." The contrast between her delighted smile and his clenched-jaw tension makes it clear this is no friendly embrace, and the candlelit atmosphere gives the whole scene an eerie, almost ceremonial quality. A satisfying close to this two-part story from DC's fan-favorite solo series.
