Three uniformed, badge-wearing officers loom menacingly over the viewer, one raising a baton while the center figure burns with glowing red eyes — and from the bottom of the frame, a blue-gloved hand reaches up defiantly, unmistakably Nightwing's, caught in their grip. Dave Johnson's cover for this May 2003 issue makes the threat immediate and visceral, placing Dick Grayson's alter ego in a dangerously outnumbered situation against the very people who are supposed to uphold the law. With Devin Grayson's script, Rick Leonardi's interior art, and a story titled "No Son of Mine," this issue promises the kind of personal, high-stakes tension that made this era of the series so compelling.
