When mysterious animated dolls begin committing crimes across the city, Lieutenant Bill Wilson investigates and discovers the horrifying truth: a criminal mastermind named Dr. San is using supernatural mind-transfer rituals to trap the consciousnesses of crooks into tiny doll bodies, sending them out to rob and murder while their physical bodies sleep safely in his house. Wilson goes undercover to infiltrate the operation, but his deception is discovered—and now he's trapped in one of the dolls himself, with San refusing to restore him.
Doctor John Walden has kept a terrible secret for fifteen years—the truth behind his lifelong friend Robert Strangeway's mysterious death on a remote Florida island. When Walden arrives for their annual fishing expedition, he discovers that Robert has become dangerously obsessed with Diana, a strange and unearthly creature pulled from the sea, and as her true nature reveals itself, Walden finds himself trapped between his loyalty to his friend and the horrifying reality of what Diana has become. What follows is a desperate struggle as Walden watches Robert spiral under Diana's spell, leading toward a tragic reckoning that neither man can escape.
Doctor Ralph Collins—a surgeon whose decade-long struggle with alcohol has left his hands unreliable—performs an operation on artist Frank Chester that goes catastrophically wrong, leaving his patient permanently blind. Years later, when Collins seeks refuge at a remote mountain resort, he's summoned for what he believes is a medical emergency—only to discover that Chester has orchestrated a chilling reunion with revenge in mind.
A famous violinist named Eric purchases a mysterious living statue from the sinister proprietor El Ahmed—a being who becomes whatever the dreamer desires most. As Eric falls hopelessly in love with his creation, she responds to his every whim and thought with perfect devotion, but their bond shatters when another man's desires begin to reshape her at a fateful party. Now Eric's dark thoughts have consequences neither of them can control, and when the truth emerges, the real horror becomes clear: El Ahmed's cursed merchandise has already claimed its next victim.
Manuel Baroja stands trial before a merciless court, convicted of crimes he insists he did not commit, and is thrown into the dungeons of the Spanish Inquisition to face a series of nightmarish tortures designed to break his spirit. Trapped in a cell with a yawning pit, flesh-eating rats, a descending blade, and walls that close in with unbearable heat, Baroja must find the will to survive each fresh horror. As the terror mounts and despair threatens to consume him, an unexpected turn of events arrives with the sound of trumpets and the arrival of General Lasalle.
