Nick Raider le nuove indagini #1
Nick Raider – Le nuove indagini #1 marks the official return of Bonelli's first-ever detective/mystery comic after a sixteen-year absence from the publisher's regular catalogue. By setting its opening story in 1987 — before the events of the original 1988 series debut — the issue functions as both a prequel and a relaunch, dramatizing for the first time the first encounter between Nick Raider and the street informant Alfie, a partnership that defined the classic run. The issue also frames an ambitious dual-timeline structure for the ten-issue miniseries, cutting between late-1980s New York and a circa-2019 present in which a visibly older Nick has ascended to lieutenant, giving longtime readers a rare chance to see the ensemble cast at two very different points in their lives.
In "Trent'anni dopo," Tenente Nick Raider is drawn back into a haunting past when an old photograph resurfaces, reigniting memories of a dark case involving blackmail and extortion that cost the life of his first partner, Richard Varelli. Written by Claudio Nizzi and brought to life by artist Giovanni Freghieri, this gripping story unfolds with a quiet intensity, anchored by Rosario Raho’s evocative cover.

Nick Raider was conceived by writer Claudio Nizzi — already Sergio Bonelli Editore's primary Tex scripter — and launched in June 1988 under the Daim Press imprint (immediately rebranded as Sergio Bonelli Editore), with character designs by Giampiero Casertano; it ran for exactly 200 numbered issues until January 2005, making it the house's first and longest-running giallo-poliziesco series. The 2021 revival was signalled in advance by a preview albetto distributed at the Free Comic Book Day Italia in late 2020, building anticipation before the November 23, 2021 newsstand release. Nizzi himself scripted the debut issue, with seasoned Bonelli artist Giovanni Freghieri (known for Martin Mystère and Dylan Dog collaborations) on interior art and Rosario Raho — a Bonelli veteran from Nathan Never and Martin Mystère — handling all ten series covers. The lettering credit for the issue is Omar Tuis.
