Durante un'operazione antidroga, Nick e Marvin sono coinvolti in una sparatoria. Marvin viene ferito gravemente e finisce in ospedale in condizioni critiche. Nick, sconvolto, si immerge nelle indagini per trovare chi ha ferito il suo amico. Nel frattempo, nel passato del tenente Art Rayan, emerge una vecchia vicenda che lo costringe a lasciare la scrivania e tornare in azione.
