“A Moment of Madness”

Issue four of Image's 1996 team book brings the tension of "A Moment of Madness" right to the cover, where a large monitor displays the New Force roster — a snarling beast-man, a distressed woman, a white-suited female hero, and a brooding young man — while outside the screen a fire-wielding woman in red, a hulking cybernetic figure, and several other teammates crowd the frame in urgent disarray. The composition, penciled by Todd Nauck and inked by Jon Sibal, does a fine job of conveying a team pulled in multiple directions at once, with that central screen doubling as both threat and focal point. Mid-1990s Image superhero energy at full throttle, and a solid entry for anyone following this ensemble cast.
