New Mutants Forever #4
In "The Fall of Nova Roma Part 4: Living--A Nightmare!", Doug confronts the lingering grip of the Red Skull’s control while navigating a dangerous ruse with Warlock, using subtle cues from their training to signal his return to himself. As Selene rallies the people of Nova Roma in revolt, the city’s fate hangs in the balance when Doug finally breaks free—only to be struck down by Magma, still under the Skull’s sway. With the tyrant fallen, a new, equally ominous figure steps forward to claim power. Written by Chris Claremont and brought to life by Al Rio’s dynamic art, Bob McLeod’s inks, Guru eFX’s colors, and Tom Orzechowski’s lettering, this issue delivers a tense, emotionally charged chapter in the saga. The cover, by Art Adams, captures the moment’s high stakes with striking detail.

Doug shows his true colors and brings the Skull down but is blasted by Magma who is still under his influence.
