New Heroics Comics #69 is an anthology of true-life heroic stories. One story features Leonard Sobecky, who races along a riverwall to rescue a young boy and his dog that have fallen into the river; though the dog struggles against the current, Sobecky reaches them in time and pulls the boy to safety, earning a citation from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Another story titled "Conflagration" depicts Mrs. Carl Ruth of Worcester, Massachusetts, who discovers a fire in her basement storage tank while checking on neighbors upstairs; she heroically rushes back downstairs to her apartment to rescue her one-year-old daughter, four-year-old son, and a young friend before the building becomes an inferno.
