While strolling near the treacherous "Valley of the Rocks," young Morgan spots a dog trapped on a rock in the middle of a river, shivering with fright. Without any concern for his own safety, Richard dives into the frigid water and makes for the rock, where he nearly drowns until two men pull him and the dog to safety. For his efforts, Richard was awarded the S.P.C.A. Humanity Medal and the Certificate of Merit.
