One featured story, "The Fire Backfired," recounts how thirteen-year-old Manuel Prasquilla of Brooklyn, New York saved lives on May 19th, 1948, by rescuing children from a burning building despite initially being afraid of water. Another story depicts a boy named Wayne who rescues his Uncle Ellis from a whirlpool after falling into a dangerous stream, swimming back to shore multiple times despite the current's strength, and later receiving a citation from the mayor for his heroic actions.
