A sunny April 1945 Dell anthology, New Funnies #98 delivers a cheerful backyard scene courtesy of cover artist Dan Gormley: a mischievous little black-and-white bear cub gleefully aims a garden hose, sending a startled rooster leaping into the air on a fountain of water. The left panel teases the roster of fun characters waiting inside — Raggedy Ann, Lil' Eight Ball, Homer Pigeon, Oswald, and Raggedy Andy — making this a wonderfully varied package from the Walter Lantz stable of cartoon stars.
