New Avengers #4
Moridun, the self-proclaimed Space Wizard of the Fifth Cosmos, dominates this cover in genuinely unsettling fashion — a massive, tentacled, tree-like entity looming against a fiery cosmic sky while space-suited heroes scramble across its writhing limbs. Al Ewing and Gerardo Sandoval's 2016 run on New Avengers clearly has a taste for threats that operate on a cosmic scale, and this cover teases the kind of grand, weird-Marvel energy that makes "The Once and Future Space-King" a story title that earns its ambition. Sandoval's linework and Dono Sanchez Almara's smoldering color palette make the whole thing feel both expansive and genuinely dangerous.
