Volume 16 of Bertschy's beloved Belgian series finds the mischievous, gap-toothed Nelson at his most chaotic — and the cover says it all: a wide-eyed dentist is caught completely off guard as Nelson gleefully clamps onto his face while an unfortunate patient reclines helplessly in the chair below, dental drill still in hand. "Déplorable Surprise" is an apt title for this 2016 Dupuis entry, promising the kind of wonderfully anarchic humor that has made Nelson such a fan favorite. If you enjoy comedy that turns an ordinary trip to the dentist into something utterly unhinged, this one belongs on your shelf.
