During a naval engagement, the Southern Force suffers devastating losses when their battleship is hit by a torpedo attack, resulting in one destroyer sunk and two ships rendered out of control. The remaining Japanese forces, now led by the battleship Fuso, steam ahead unaware of a trap being sprung against them, leading to a tremendous explosion that breaks the flagship in two and sends it to the bottom.
