“The Ventures of Zimmerman”

In "The Ventures of Zimmerman," the National Lampoon takes a darkly satirical dive into the grim fates of the Archie gang years after high school, painting a surreal, melancholic portrait of their lives gone awry. Written by Dean Latimer and Ray Schultz, with art by Ray Schultz, the story reimagines Jughead as an alcoholic, Archie as a fallen soldier, and the rest of the group entangled in tragedy and disillusionment. The cover by Gilbert Stone captures the story’s biting, offbeat tone with its stark, stylized imagery.
