This volume collects chapters 8 through 16 of the original Naruto manga series, picking up where the first volume left off. The story follows young ninja Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno as they take on their first C-rank mission: escorting a cranky bridge builder named Tazuna to the Land of Waves. The mission quickly escalates into a deadly encounter with the rogue ninja Zabuza Momochi and his apprentice Haku, forcing Team 7 to confront the harsh realities of the shinobi world.
