Mystery in Space #20
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeDC's Mystery in Space #20 from 1954 delivers the kind of unsettling sci-fi premise the series did so well, with Murphy Anderson's cover depicting a suited man forced to wear a blank, featureless Martian mask while a menacing alien — ray gun in hand — declares he's taking his prisoner back to Mars forever. A horrified woman recoils in the background, and the cover copy "He Was Condemned to Be — 'The Man in the Martian Mask!'" sets an effectively eerie tone. Interior art by Carmine Infantino with inks by Sy Barry and a script by Sid Gerson make this a fine snapshot of 1954 DC science fiction at its imaginative peak.
