The second volume of Ken Mallory's Burmese adventure plunges readers into a dense jungle where a crashed American warplane — its fuselage marked with a bold star and the number 24 — lies half-buried among the trees, a green serpent coiling overhead. A white-haired figure stands atop the wreck while two other characters peer out from the cockpit, the whole scene dripping with atmosphere and intrigue. Gauthier and Marniquet deliver a beautifully composed cover that makes "La Vallée des Ombres" feel like exactly the kind of shadowy mystery its subtitle promises.
