Margot is informally engaged to Ned but is “not ready to get married yet.” Margot is attracted to handsome Drake, a client of the employment agency where she works, and breaks a date with Ned to go out with him. Margot lets Drake stay at her apartment (while she stays with her sister), and buys him a new suit for a job interview. Margot is evicted and loses her job because of Drake. Ned hires her as his secretary and when Drake shows up and demands money, threatening to tell Ned that he spent the night at her apartment, Ned punches him. Ned says he still loves Margot.
