My Love #19

Marvel's My Love series delivered genuine emotional drama, and issue #19 from September 1972 is a fine example of the line at its most charged. John Romita's cover captures a tearful blonde woman pulling away from a dark-haired young man who grips her arm, her speech bubbles crying "No! No! Stay away! Let me go!" and "Can't you see it's too late? Haven't I suffered enough?" — all set against a crowd scene complete with a photographer and a "Welcome Home" sign that adds a bittersweet public dimension to the confrontation.
