Mitsuko Hoshino is a private detective working for a detective agency in 1920s Japan, struggling to succeed in an era where many people cling to negative ideas about working women. Saku Yoshida is the aimless son of a wealthy family who finds an abandoned woman's shoe by the docks and worries someone may have met with foul play. He takes the case to Mitsuko and together they are led into a strange case of unrequited love.
