Published in 2010 by Ankama, this third volume of Mutafukaz delivers a striking cover that says everything and nothing all at once — a small, stylized black figure with enormous white eyes stands defiantly at center, a brilliant rainbow bursting from his chest into the darkness below while sinister, ghostly faces loom in the smoke surrounding him. The contrast between that lone, almost cartoon-simple silhouette and the swirling menace closing in around him captures the series' signature blend of street-art cool and unsettling atmosphere perfectly. If you've been following this series, this 2010 release makes it very clear the stakes — and the strangeness — are only getting bigger.
