Muggy-Doo, Boy Cat #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis is an anthology issue containing at least three stories. In the first story, Muggy-Doo leaves home to avoid making mistakes and encounters a fire at a museum, where he heroically rushes inside to save the priceless Venus de Milo statue from the flames. "Orpy Orangutan" features a character who gets hired as a delivery boy at a fruit stand, takes excessive amounts of applesauce as payment, and causes chaos while attempting to work. The final story, "Osh," shows a character planting potatoes with Mr. Osh when Muggy-Doo accidentally causes a barrel and bucket to roll down a hill, destroying the potato garden and leaving Mr. Osh frustrated with the results.
When a boy cat named Muggy-Doo buys a masseur's table from a junk-man, he decides to launch a massage business—with results that spiral hilariously out of control. His well-meaning (if chaotic) attempts to help his friend Osh with a stiff neck set off a chain of increasingly wild schemes involving homemade vitamins, impromptu medical exams, and accidental transformations. This 1953 romp is pure slapstick mayhem as Muggy-Doo's big business dreams keep backfiring in the most ridiculous ways.
Elmer the Elk, a newly minted volunteer fireman, springs into action whenever he hears a loud sound—but his enthusiasm keeps getting the better of his judgment as he mistakes a clock, chimes, and other household noises for the fire alarm. When a real emergency finally strikes at the museum, Elmer charges in to help, only to discover his heroic instincts have led him to save something far more unusual than he bargained for.
Stuffy Derma works in the shipping department at Thimbles Department Store, where his careless wrapping of a dress bound for Miss Patti Bacon sets off a wild chain of events—a package mix-up, a complaint department standoff, and a board meeting that leads to an unexpected solution. When Miss Patti Bacon and Stuffy finally meet, their collision course toward resolving the delivery disaster takes a comedic turn neither of them saw coming.
Muggy-Doo, the junk dealer with a heart, finds himself torn between trading in his beloved old 1928 pushcart for a spanking new twelve-passenger jalopy when a used car salesman challenges his loyalty. When a hasty decision leaves his faithful cart looking dejected, Muggy-Doo faces the choice between keeping up with the times and standing by an old friend. It's a warmhearted tale about what really matters when sentiment meets temptation.
Opry Orangutan lands a delivery job and immediately makes a mess of things—literally crushing a customer's apples into pulp. When his boss discovers the accident, he sees an opportunity: maybe they can turn those squashed apples into applesauce and make a fortune. What follows is a chaotic venture into the applesauce business, where Opry's "don't bother me with details" attitude clashes hilariously with the realities of actually running a food operation.
Muggy-Doo, the self-proclaimed boy genius, gets hauled off to school by a truant officer—only to discover that Miss Kitty, the teacher, is far more charming than he expected. His schemes to impress her and avoid classwork lead to plenty of comic chaos, including run-ins with the principal and a rival "teacher's pet." By the time Muggy-Doo faces the consequences of his antics, he's learned that school might not be quite as easy as he thought.
