“For the Best”

Tied into the sweeping Civil War event, this 2006 installment of Ms. Marvel features a haunting cover by David Mack — Ms. Marvel plummeting through a lightning-charged sky, her golden hair and red-and-blue costume trailing upward as she falls weightless against a wash of pale violet light. Brian Reed and Roberto de la Torre bring their talents to "For the Best," a title that hints at difficult choices during Marvel's hero-versus-hero conflict.

After interrogating the Shroud, Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man take Arana on her first field mission to Denver where they encounter the fugitive heroine, Julia Carpenter (Arachne) who chooses to fight Ms. Marvel rather than be taken in. After the battle Julia is defeated and her daughter, Rachel is taken from her. Upon witnessing this, Arana questions whether or not what they are doing is right or wrong.
