This 2000 WildStorm series brings its second issue with a cover by penciler Roberto Flores and inker Richard Friend that crackles with urgent energy — a massive, menacing figure in red-and-silver armor looms over two young women mid-flight, one in a bright orange suit and another in flowing dark robes, while smaller figures scramble in the shadowy background. The sense of a desperate escape from an overwhelming threat comes through immediately, with Flores's dynamic figure work giving every character a distinct sense of motion and panic. Scott Lobdell's "Chapter Five: One in the Hand..." promises the story is already deep in its stride, making this a fine moment to catch up with this fast-moving WildStorm adventure.
