The first visible story depicts Mortie attempting to sell sets of knives door-to-door as a salesman, encountering various comedic mishaps including a run-in with a demon and laundry mishaps. Another story, "Mortie in Prize Boner," shows Mortie pestering his father Mr. Boggs for a skeleton from his brother's medical laboratory for a school biology class, eventually tricking his father into agreeing by claiming he needs it to borrow the skeleton.
When the girls announce a pajama party with a strict no-boys rule, Mortie and his pals scheme to crash it and eavesdrop on what the gals really think about them—leading to an elaborate disguise and a hilarious comeuppance. This 1952 teen romp captures the period's battle-of-the-sexes humor with pratfalls, mistaken identities, and the kind of slapstick payoff that made Mortie comics a Saturday-night read.
When Mortie's family faces financial hardship, the resourceful teen lands a job selling cutlery door-to-door to save the day—but a mix-up involving a sample case sets off a chain reaction of misunderstandings that turns the whole town against him. As chaos spirals through town, Mortie finds himself on the run while his family's sudden good fortune makes them look like frauds, leaving everyone scrambling to figure out what's really going on.
When Mazie and Jeanie discover that Stevie will be attending Flat-Top's masquerade party as a fat clown, both girls scheme to snag him as their dance partner—but a costume mix-up at the rental shop sets off a hilarious chain of mistaken identities and comic chaos that leaves everyone scrambling. As the night spirals into mayhem, with chaperones caught in the fray and costumes going to the wrong people, the teens learn that sometimes the partner you end up with is exactly the one you needed all along.
Stevie and his rival Flat-Top Jackson are both determined to be the high scorer in tonight's basketball game against Jasper High—because the winner gets to take Mazie to the dance. When Mortie accidentally spoils Mazie's jam-making session, Stevie seizes the chance to earn quick cash by cleaning up the kitchen mess, but his real scheme is far more clever than it first appears. By game time, Stevie's got the energy and Flat-Top doesn't—and the scoreboard tells the whole story.
Mortie gets volunteered to pick up a skeleton from a doctor's office for his principal—but when the package arrives at school, a case of mistaken identity lands him in hot water with the police, who mistake him and the bones for an escaped asylum patient. With Mortie locked up and Principal Soggs rushing to his rescue (only to get arrested himself), it takes a biology teacher to untangle the whole mix-up and get everyone back on the same page.
