Morbius: The Living Vampire #5
This January 1993 issue of Morbius: The Living Vampire wastes no time announcing its threat: the cover, penciled by Ron Wagner and inked by Mike Witherby, presents the massive, reptilian Basilisk looming over a helpless, spread-eagled Morbius pinned within a glowing circle — the tag lines boldly promising this creature is "Morbius's greatest nemesis." The contrast between the snarling, drool-slicked monster and the pale, vulnerable Living Vampire beneath him makes for a genuinely unsettling image that sets the tone for the story within, "Here There Be Dragons." With Len Kaminski writing and Ron Wagner on interior art as well, fans of early-'90s Marvel horror had plenty of reason to pick this one up.
